    Tools Needed

    • Phillips #00 Screwdriver
    • Small suction cup
    • Spudger or plastic opening tools
    • New iPhone 3G battery

    Step-by-step Replacement Instructions

    It is necessary to take a cautious approach while replacing the battery of an iPhone 3G. Do not force any tool into the iPhone as it could cause damage to sensitive internal components. Also ensure to keep a track of all the small screws and parts.

    • Step 1: Remove the two 1.5 mm Phillips #00 screws from the dock-connector end of the iPhone.

    • Step 2: Place a small suction cup near the Home button and gently lift the front panel up.

    • Step 3: Use the spudger to disconnect the three ribbon cables.

    • Step 4: Remove the front panel assembly completely from the back panel.

    • Step 5: Remove the two 1.5 mm Phillips screws securing the battery to the iPhone.

    • Step 6: Use the spudger to lift the battery out and replace it with the new iPhone 3G battery.

    • Step 7: Reassemble the iPhone in the reverse order.
