How to Replace an iPhone X

Replacing parts of an iPhone X, such as the screen or battery, requires technical skills and precision.

Materials Needed

• Replacement part (e.g. new battery or screen)
• Pentalobe Screwdriver
• Tri-point Screwdriver
• Spudger
• Suction Handle

Step-by-Step Procedure

Note: This guide assumes that the replacement part is already on hand and that the device has been turned off.

• Remove the two Pentalobe screws at the bottom of the iPhone next to the charging port.
• Place a Suction Handle on the lower half of the front screen. Ensure a firm grip and pull up to create a small opening between the front screen and the frame.
• Use the Spudger to carefully widen the opening and detach the clips holding the screen and frame together. Lift the screen slowly and do not remove it completely as several cables are still attached to it.
• On the lower edge of the logic board, remove three Tri-point screws holding a bracket in place. Remove this bracket to disconnect the battery.
• Disconnect the battery by prying its connector off the logic board.
• Depending on the replacement needed, different steps follow:
• For screen replacement, remove the connectors to the screen and replace it with the new one.
• For battery replacement, remove the adhesive strips holding the battery in place and carefully lift the battery out and place the new one in its place.
• Reconnect the battery and fasten the bracket back in place.
• Realign the screen back to the frame and press it back into place. Replace the two Pentalobe screws on the bottom of the iPhone.
