Power off the Nintendo 3DS XL. Flip the device over so that the back cover faces upward. Remove the two 4.2 mm screws securing the battery cover to the lower case. Lift the battery cover off the lower case. Use a plastic opening tool to pry the battery up and out of the lower case.
Insert the new battery into the battery compartment. Ensure it is placed correctly with its metal contacts matching those in the compartment. Reattach the back cover and reinsert the 4.2mm screws.
Once the battery is in place, power on the Nintendo 3DS XL to ensure it's working properly. If the system doesn't power on, check the battery contacts or consider seeking professional help.
