    Things you'll need:

    • Phillips-head screwdriver
    • Replacement hard drive
    • ESD-safe workstation

    Disassembly:

    Always ensure that your workstation is ESD-safe before beginning any disassembly process.

    • Turn the PlayStation 3 over, so the bottom is facing up.
    • Remove the plastic cover located at the side of the console.
    • Unscrew the blue screw located beneath the compartment.
    • Slide the hard drive tray out from the side of the console.

    Replacing the Hard Drive:

    • Remove the four screws attaching the hard drive to the tray.
    • Replace the old hard drive with a new one.
    • Secure the new hard drive with the four screws.
    • Slide the hard drive tray back into the PS3 console.
    • Screw the blue screw back into place.
    • Replace the plastic cover.

    Reassembly:

    Once the replacement is done, it's time for reassembly. Just reverse the disassembly process.
