Step 1: Power Off the Device

Ensure the MacBook is completely powered down and that the power adapter is unplugged.

Step 2: Remove the Bottom Case

Remove the ten pentalobe screws that secure the bottom case. Once done, carefully take off the bottom case.

Step 3: Disconnect the Battery Connector

Locate the small board near the battery. Tug the small clear loop to disconnect the battery connector from the logic board.

This could mean the battery, SSD or the memory. For each of them, you may need to unscrew any screws securing the part in place and carefully remove it from the system board.

Step 5: Install the New Part

Place your new part in the same location where you removed the old part. Replace and tighten any screws that were removed.
